Tag: I'm It

My friend Karen "tagged" me on her blog which means I have to answer these questions on my blog. And, since I've been lacking in creativity lately, I will gladly oblige. I hope Julie , Carrie , and Lolly will oblige as well. (If I didn't say you, it's because I got tired of copy&pasting blog site links... so if you have a blog and you think it'd be fun to answer these questions consider yourself tagged.) :-) 1. The ideal Saturday morning looks like ... Sleeping in WITH Mark (which means we'd have to have someone here to get up with our kids...) and a hot breakfast consisting of homemade biscuits (store bought are fine, I use them, but on my "ideal Saturday" I want the real stuff!) country gravy (which would require someone southern to be here - ahem, MOM.) eggs, bacon, a mocha, and orange juice. After our delicious breakfast we'd have an adventure at a park with the Caruana family. :-) A girl can dream... 2. A place I would like to go

Her favorite nap of the day is her morning one because I always lay her in my bed right where I've been laying so it's nice and warm and smelly. (But my smelly is like a rose garden to my baby). It's her longest, most solid nap. I'm tempted to always let her sleep there, but no thanks. I wear babies in slings and make homemade granola, but my hippie-ness stops there. She's had her first trip to the community lake. She is pretty much edible.

Snack Time is Learning Time

Image
In an effort to incorporate learning into everyday life (I'm thinking about homeschooling -gulp...) I'm becoming more aware of opportunities to teach simple lessons without my kids even really knowing it, because secret learning is fun learning, right? Today I turned snack time into a little lesson in comparisons and preferences, also throwing in some writing and color skills. Ben wanting to try out a new snack we bought yesterday but couldn't decide which flavor he wanted. So we made a little chart. He taped the wrappers to the paper, then wrote the flavors under each wrapper; Wildberry and Strawberry. We saw that both words have the word 'berry' in them. Then I had him find a crayon that was the most similar in color to the fruit roll. After that he tried them both and used descriptive words to tell me what he thought about them. Strawberry was the winner, by the way. :-)

My Heart

(Troy and Mia are my favorites too, but I feel like I just posted about how Tman is my fave (Remember? I said that I'd choose him if there's an earthquake...) and Mia is kind of a given anyway. I intend on writing proper blogs about each of them, just not right at the moment. But I do love them. Dearly.) Onto the regularly scheduled program. (PS. I think that was the first time in my entire life that I spelled 'scheduled' correctly on the first try. I'm so proud!) Lately I've been feeling a little "poor me" -ish. I don't even know if that's the right way to put it, because I'm not sitting here throwing daily pity parties or anything. But I will say that there is an obvious battle going on for the well being of the condition of my heart. I feel it everyday. Temptation to be jealous. To be bitter. Angry even. I feel the battle for my attitude when my husband calls and says he's going to be a little late coming home from his job. His job t

Addison is my favorite because she is a free spirit. She dances like a leaf in the wind, like a dainty butterfly, like a hippie. She has fantastic voices that she tells silly stories in, and makes up songs with. She is her daddy's girl, which I fully appreciate. Addison is my favorite because her goofiness, and her inability to actually smile for the camera has become rather endearing - most of the time. She is my favorite because she can paint for an hour at the table by herself, or play hard with the best of them. I love her tenderness and her compassion. I have found her crying while watching a sad part of a movie, or while listening to what she considers "sad songs" (Slower songs, usually acoustic). She shows empathy with anyone who seems sad or hurt, often telling me we should pray for them. I love her prayerful heart. Addison is my favorite because of the way she plays with Troy and talks with Mia, as if they're her own little babies. She dotes on them, not ma

My Favorite(s)

Ben is my favorite because he's creative. He has a killer imagination and he can draw anyone who will listen into it. He is my favorite because whenever he is somewhere without Addison and Troy (but especially Addison) and he's given something, like a sticker or a cookie, he will ask for another one to bring home for them. He is thoughtful in ways that surprise me daily. He is my favorite because of how responsible he is, because I can trust him to do things, and because of how lovingly he takes care of his siblings, especially Mia. He's my favorite because when he is sick, really real sick, he doesn't make a fuss and doesn't want attention. He knows that I get sad when he's sick, so he tries really hard to be "fine", even though he's feeling crummy, he thinks about my feelings. He is my favorite because he's fun to take with me places. He is polite and helpful and has great conversations with people, so adult like and yet to childish. He is en

Crafty Me

Image
I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)
