Bummin

Today was supposed to be the day. What day you ask? THE day. The day I FINALLY go to the doctor to find out what the what is going on with my eyes. I'm sure you've noticed, if you have seen me, like, ever, that I frequently have red, puffy, disgusting looking eyes. You may have even pulled out the hand-sani after giving me a high five, or put on your sunglasses pretending you're a celebrity but really you were just hoping they'd offer some protection from whatever disease that was sure to jump from my eye to yours. I don't blame you. They look awful. On a good day they look like this..



But even in that photo you can see they don't look well.

They aren't well. I am not well.

I have needed to see a doctor about this for years. Seriously, i've had eye issues forever. It used to be kind of cool because my high school teachers always thought I had pink eye and would send me home. But I wasn't really sick, per se, so I'd take my sickly-eyed-self to the beach. But now it's not cool it's just gross and embarrassing. So I was super amped about this visit today. I had a sitter set up (shout out to Hools!), and a back-up sitter on call just in case, I even found a new doctor to go to, because I haven't really loved my primary care physician in the past, and this was MY day so I wanted the best.

And there is the problem:

I found a new doctor.

And, after waiting for 30 minutes at my new doctor's office, I was ever so sweetly informed that I needed to let my insurance know of my desire to change doctors prior to my visit. Oh they could've seen me, but I would've had to foot the bill - all of it.

UUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO bummed. Now i have a lovely phone date with my insurance company, and I have to get another doc apt which is difficult on so many different levels.

Bummed. That's what I am.

That's a bummer. Yeah it's a pain to get all that straight...a tidbit of advice make sure your card has your new doctor on it or they might make you wait to that too. When i worked for a doctor we had to send people who obviously needed help but the insurance didn't match up, it sucked and I always felt so bad. Good luck with your insurance don't let them transfer you unless you get a direct number first, I've spent a lot of time on the phone with insurance sorry this is turing into an advice comment i just really hope you get your eyes checked out soon.

Sarah, use some anti-inflamation pills...motrin will work....until you see the doc...take the max that won't effect Mia. I suspect it is what i have to some degree...iritis....yes, folks, it is real and it hurts tremendously when full blown. Sarah, when my regular optometrist saw mine the first serious case, he sent me immediately to an opthamologist..literally...didn't have to have him as a primary...since he was a specialist referred by approved optometrist. try it. I hurt for you! Dad

Oh, baby girl... so sorry to hear this news. I'm very sad for you cause I do know you need the help immediately with your sore, tired eyes. =( I hate the way you have to go through your primary care doctor to get in with a specialist..(cause that's what you really need). That's what I just did and waited 3 months to see the dermatologist!! Sometimes the PCP can give you a "pass through" to see the specialist immediately... let's pray for that!!! I hope you just love this new doctor and keep him/her forever!

So sorry Sarah. It's hard enough for moms to get the attention (to all sorts of details) they need. And this is very uncomfortable situation. Praying there's some progress real soon.

Insurance companies and their rules make people sicker than they already were with all the hoops to jump through and tight ropes to walk! Don't get me started - oh I already am! Just remember the ol' squeaky wheel proverb (it should be in the bible if it's not) But, of course, that is the the ultimate firey test...they've got LOTS of time for this battle and you're forced to waste yours at the automated phone circus! I'm sorry you must wage this war now! [or ever!]

oh I'm so sorry! That is a big bummer! I wonder what it is? If it makes you feel better, I never noticed your eyes--maybe that's because I was so busy checking out your beautiful children and your HOT body!! :) Hope you can get those eyes looked at ...

Oh I do feel for you. I had 3 styes in one year and realized how much we take for granted healthy eyes. Obviously that is nothing compared to you having to deal with this for so many years, but have had a glimpse, and it's no fun. Sorry... :(

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. Crafty Me

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)
