Addie's Babies, for my Memory

Addison has roughly nine "babies" that she takes care of on a daily basis. Nine. And she takes care of them all day long, it's pretty amazing, she puts me to shame really. She feeds, dresses, walks, naps, reads to, sings to and loves on these babies from morning till night. She LOVES her babies. The other day she came out of her room and let me know that she was off to college and I needed to babysit for her. Later she spotted me not doing my "job" and said, "Mom, babies don't babysit themselves". Right. Got it.

My favorite thing about her babies are their names, she named them months ago and the names stuck. You can ask her any of their names and they're the same name for the same baby every time... it's pretty awesome. It helps that three of them are Hannah and two are Bella. Then there's Minnie (fitting, since it's a Minnie Mouse), Baby Lucy (which has been her constant favorite for over two years), Addison (as in - Addison Jr.) and my personal favorite, a pig named Oink-Oink-Picture-Taken-Bear-Blue. What? Where did she come up with that name? I have no idea, but it's the pig's name, and I think it's awesome. Kind of reminds me of when I was young and I had a stuffed animal rabbit named Shady Philadelphia Mamaw Prince.

I love that she loves babies! I wonder where she got that from?

Love it. I'm glad she enjoys her babies and taking care of them. That was a sweet part of my childhood as well, and I LOVED all my dolls. I still remember their names.

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)

In a Nut Shell...

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family."
