In Response...

My friend Jessica is awesome and wrote a blog in response to the questions I've been mulling over that I shared a few days ago. She said a lot of really great things, my favorite being, "I think a lot of times helping people is actually calling them on their bs and forcing them to make a choice."

All of you are free to to call me on my bs anytime.

Thanks Jess!

James 5:19-20
My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

I think this does not just apply to believes but to non believers as well. I agree with Jess, that we can not simply coddle these types of people and feel sorry for them. There is something to be said for empathy and understanding, but also for truth and boldness whether they think they need to hear it or not. Although, I am reminded when I type this to always be in prayer before and when speaking and acting in these situations. We need to be speaking God's Truth and His Love and be prayerful for a ear and heart that is ready to hear and feel.
Oh and Jess, here is that reference you were searching for I think: Matthew 18:15-20
"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
