July? July? Anybody Seen July?

Did this last month just fly by for anybody else, or was it just me? Here is a pictorial documentation of last month's happenings.

Started the month off with Mark's favorite event of the year: 4th of July Pig Roast. Yum.


Mia tasted plums for the first time.


We checked out the OC fair


We got a TV. Don't get all excited, we're canceling cable (after only having it for 30 days) next week. Turns out we really haven't missed much over the last four years and can't justify spending $$ monthly on something neither one of us really enjoy.


Had some yummy frozen bananas on Balboa Island.


Addison got arrested.


Three precious children decided to all sleep together every night, which just melts me.


Spent a gorgeous Saturday morning at San Clemente beach.


Don't forget about the train ride to Fullerton and my morning out with the girls! What a sweet month it has been.

August will not be so sweet - Flavia leaves us for a week (to visit her the family she stayed with last time she was here) then returns only to leave us for good a few days later. Nope, not a sweet month at all. But we will carry on with happy hearts and relish the time we have left with her.

Oh, one last thing: HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY ADDISON!!

Waaaaaay too fast... what is with these months passing so quickly???
Loved your "month in pictures" post. Troy looked very happy in front of the tv...and Mia looked adorable munching on her first plumb.

August will be a great month! We will all miss Flavia a great deal, you will the most I am sure (or maybe Addison)... but there are good things to come! Troy's 2nd birthday is in August! And August means one month closer to your 30th Birthday celebration! Good things in August! So here's to August and hopefully no animal heads in trays!

Kendall still uses those food nets all the time and she's almost 15 months! I call them her banana nets because that's all I ever put in...and unfortunately it is also the messiest food to clean out of them!!

A Quick Update

We have been in Idaho just a few days shy of 7 months. That's over HALF a YEAR, people. MUCH has changed. Our daily routine? Changed. Weekend plans? Changed. People we call when we're in a jam? Changed. How we're being fed spiritually? Changed. (But not TOTALLY, because we are still being fed hearty meals from the truth of God's Word, only our "server" has changed, essentially). My New Language

My teen challenged me to a game of ping pong. Easy enough, one might think, but this particular teen has been playing for YEARS against GOOD players (my mother-in-law is a champ!). Not to mention his muscles are twice the size of mine and he's a least - dare I admit this - a solid three inches taller than I, probably four. He was so sweet when he asked, and I couldn't remember the last time he had, so of course I said yes. From the beginning he knew he could beat me. He is stronger, faster,  *sigh*  taller , and more skilled. So he, sweet thang that he is, played with his weaker hand, which honestly isn't saying much because the boy is straight up ambidextrous . He was still beating me. So he got on his knees. I kid you not. He put one hand behind his back and he. played. on. his. knees . Aaaaaaaaaand he still beat me. The Post About School

Our family has partially or full time homeschooled for eight years. And, getting really technical, if you think of the years per kid, that's 22 years of homeschooling ! I think it's safe to say we are homeschool fans. Our decision to homeschool, initially, came from three factors: 1. Mark is a big proponent of using time wisely, and neither of us were thrilled with the use of time in our local schools. 2. We don't vaccinate, which wasn't a big deal in the beginning because BACK THEN we could just sign a waiver and it was no biggie. Then CA went all - well, Californiaish- and basically it became impossible for us to legally enroll our kids in a public school. 3. What brought homeschooling to our attention was when a family brought us a meal after Mia was born, and in walked this 8 year old boy who was kind, polite, helpful, genuine, respectful, patient, and more. I asked the mom, "Where does this kid go to school? He is incredible! What are you doing??...
