Today I am thankful for...

1. the news that the newest little Abbott baby is a GIRL!!! So excited to have another niece and I'm so thrilled that Michael and Daniel will have a little sister to pick on and bug, I mean love and protect.
2. Getting to meet the daughter of the original owners of our house yesterday... she and her brother grew up in our house and I believe one, if not both, of her parents died in this house. It holds a really special place in her heart- so much so that she wouldn't come inside. Maybe someday.
3. the 3.2 mile walk I went on this morning with some friends.
4. my time with Lisa yesterday and the GREAT time we had shopping!!
5. being 12 weeks along and feeling a lot better than I did in the beginning.
6. having honest friendships.
7. frozen berries because they get Ben to eat all of his dinner - if every other bite is a berry.
8. sweet Ali's phone call.
9. the multiple phone conversations with my mom-in-law yesterday, she's so funny.
10. my clean house.

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)

In a Nut Shell...

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family."
