Today I am thankful for...

1. our Cuban friends who invite us to their annual pig roast. I love them, and I love the food.
2. the wonderful time in Simi this weekend with friends and family.
3. getting a really good pedicure with my mom on Friday while my dad watched Ben.
4. Ben saying "mama" this morning when I went in to get him up. He ALWAYS says dada, so mama is a welcomed change.
5. so much quality time with Mark these past few days.
6. getting to chat with Sarah today, it had been so long.
7. going to Disneyland with my mom Friday night to watch the fireworks. Us and one zillion other people. It was really neat though, and I'm glad we went.
8. not having to run the AC very much today, and for the breeze all day long.
9. mentioning to Mark that I need to update my address book and within minutes he downloaded his complete address book into mine on my computer so now that's down without so much a finger lifted by me.
10. Mark's new board shorts and sunglasses. It was about time!

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)

In a Nut Shell...

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family."
