Today I am thankful for...

1. time with my mom this weekend, and Jason + family on Sunday. It was really good to be with them, even in the midst of Ben's foul mood.
2. a trip to Disneyland! It's been a while so we had a good time.
3. Mark home safe and sound. I try to keep in perspective how fleeting life is, but I really love Mark and I really love life a lot more when he's with me.
4. the leaders meeting for MOPS today, first one of the season and it made me look forward to the start of the Thursday morning gatherings.
5. Amanda's sweet hug when she saw my discouragement/frustration towards Ben's attitude today. I'm praying it's a quick phase but I feel like shouting "I still have four more months till he turns two, throw me a bone here!"
6. Mark's reinforcing the discipline I've had to crack down on these past few days. (hmm, is there a theme here?)
7. Hawaii because my parents love being there and it's good to see them able to relax in a place they both enjoy so much.
8. getting to talk with Darren the other night! I love that family so much.
9. 7pm because I know that no matter what's going on in Ben's world it all comes to a peaceful cease fire as he angelically falls asleep without a fight.
10. the little baby inside me that just kicks and squirms and moves about every morning and night. I love it!!

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family." Crafty Me

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)
