God Names

This morning Ben asked me what will he call God when he goes to his house. He said, "Will I say, 'Hi God', like that?" I told him he could do that but that God has lots of names he loves to be called. So he and Addison and I sat and looked at a list of all the names of God. Of all the ones I read Ben decided he would call God Captain and Addison decided on Counselor. I thought those were both very fitting names for each of them to choose. I love that God has so many names and when we need the power of God the Captain he's there, and when we need the softness of God the Counselor he's right there too. What a moment that will be, when we stand before the Lord and utter the name that our heart knows him as. What will you call him?

I think my faves are, Yahweh, Adonai and Master...who knows what will actually come from our mouths when we actually stand before him!

its so precious to hear how children perceive God- as well as the people around us.
i feel a connection with Adonai, I AM, and Father.

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)

In a Nut Shell...

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family."
