Today I am thankful for...
~ a very wonderful birthday yesterday! It was such a great day ~ spending time with sweet friends, getting bombarded with cards and phone calls, I loved it! So many people did the sweetest things and made me feel so special. I'm not going to name off each person and thing, but I am very grateful for everything!!
~ the BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers Ben and Mark gave me yesterday. Mark said Ben really did pick them out, so they are very special. I love them.
~ visits from two friends today.
~ out time at the pumpkin patch at our church tonight. They shipped in over 1,000 pumpkins and sold them 2 for $5, that's such a steal! We met up with Jason and Carrie and Ben had a BLAST playing with Gavin. It's fun that they're at that age now where they can rough house a bit more. They were very fun to watch. Gavin was probably thinking "finally!"
~ my birthday dinner last night. We went to a place we'd never been to before that Mark found online, so it was a little chancy to go there, but it was awesome. Benny Hanna style Japanese food where they cook right in front of you. I even tried sushi for the second time. (I've heard that more you try it the more you like it, so I'm "baby stepping").
~ some new clothes that are really cute.
~ pumpkin bread mix from Trader Joe's. Did you know I love that place?
~ hanging out with Jeff and Amanda at church tonight, and seeing cutie-pie Sophia.

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family." Crafty Me

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)
