Today I am so thankful for...

~my sis-in-law Amy's parenting encouragement. I so love talking with her!
~ time with my parent's on Thursday. Good food and fun, and they helped me finish Ben's photo board.
~ my dad supporting my MOPS fundraiser.
~ plans to go to the harvest carnival with Carrie and the kids tonight.
~ Lolly and her kids coming over last night. I like that she's a friend I can can laugh hard with and also have some serious moments with.
~ all the really cute clothes Amanda is letting me borrow.
~ my birthday flowers that are still so pretty.
~ the fires being 40% contained. Still, it's so awful, but hopefully they're getting a handle on it.
~ our fun adventure last night with our neighbors cat, Frank, and a huge RACCOON! Lolly and I had a lot of laughs over us trying to save the cat, and the kids got a kick out of us getting all worked up. It was quite a silly sight.
~ Jason & Carrie letting Ben wear Gavin's last year's costume, he's going to be Elmo!! So excited because it's cuter than anything I saw in any store, plus it's free!
~ Airborne tablets, I think they really work.
~ the little surprise Snickers bar either my mom or dad hid for me in Ben's diaper bag. It made me laugh, so sweet!
~ me sticking to my guns on a new rule for Ben, and seeing it pay off last night. (We've established the take three bites of whatever I've made you to eat, or don't eat anything at all until you do" rule. It worked!)

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family." Crafty Me

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)
