Today I am thankful for...

1. the guys that are working so hard at tearing our house apart. And I'm also thankful (in advance) for when they put it back together.

2. the beautiful trees and bushes Mark had planted in our backyard, especially the avocado tree.

3. the very special tree he had planted in the front of the house just for me. It's shaped so nicely and has little pink flowers on it. Whenever I drive up to our house I will be reminded of how much Mark loves me and all the sweet ways he shows me.

4. my parents coming down to see the house for the first time. It was fun to walk around with them and share our dreams with them, they were very excited and encouraging.

5. Getting to see Lauren today. What a treat! We looked at some pictures she had taken (she's a REAL photographer) and wow, she is so talented. If anybody ever needs a photographer for anything, she's your gal!

6. knowing the grocery check-out people and having my favorites. I will miss them when we move. (I'll have to show Carrie who is the fastest and nicest and all that.)

7. Mark coming home early from work last night!

8. my new sunglasses, $5.99 at Target!

9. talking to Amy a couple of times today. There's talk of me going out to NC for a visit, I'm so excited!

10. a home-cooked meal, made by me. :)

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)

In a Nut Shell...

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family."
