Happy Birthday Lucia!

Sorry we couldn't be at your party, but we love you and hope you had a wonderful FIRST birthday!!

Today I am so thankful for...

1. my one and only niece. She is so precious and sweet. I love her big smile and easy-going personality. She is my favorite niece in the whole world. :)

2. talking with Keri Lyon on the phone for the first time EVER!! I become so dependent on email that I forget how nice it is to actually talk to someone. Keri is no exception, it was great to hear her voice.

3. Mark coming home early today from working on the house. I was able to go for a run (my best one ever) and he was able to spend some quality time with Ben.

4. Joe -who came to watch Ben while I went to a dentist appointment. Who knew when I made the appointment for the 15th they meant MARCH 15th?

5. talking with Tina for a bit on the phone. She said such sweet things that really encouraged me and made me feel loved, as usual.

6. my best run ever!!! 1.5 miles without stopping, 2.3 miles total, only walking a minute here and there for 5 of the 25 minutes. I'm seeing progress and it feels really good.

7. Ben's love of the outdoors.

8. Swiffer mops.

9. chocolate covered strawberries that I made for Mark yesterday. Somehow I ended up eating more than he did, go figure.

10. these past 5 days with Mark. He goes back to his night job tomorrow night. But it's been great having him home these past few evenings. Got a little taste of the whole 9-5 working world.

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)

In a Nut Shell...

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family."
