I'm writting just after a fabulous party at Mark's parent's house. 30+ people, including the kids, were here having a great time! Today we have a specail guest speaker!! Coming from Simi Valley, Matthew Macer (7 years old) is thankful for...

1. getting an elf hat
2. getting a present from Santa today
3. getting to come to the party
4. Tina and Paul for inviting me to the party
5. all the kids that came today to the party for me to play with
6. this orange ball. (as he holds up a little baseketball he's been playing with all night.)
7. my family.
8. my baseketball and a hoop so I can shoot the baseketball
9. that I have friends
10. toys.

Today I am thankful for...

1. Mark having tonight off so we could come to his parents house together.
2. the wonderful Christmas party the Fitzptricks put on.
3. having my parents at the party.
4. the really good food at the party.
5. getting to see all the kids playing together, even Ben.
6. the visit from Santa. With all the kids here it was really fun to watch their reactions. Three week old Ben (last year) was much more tolerant than (almost) one year old Ben.
7. Ben finally going to sleep, poor guy.
8. Tina and Paul's hard work for putting this party on. Gifts for all the kids, gifts for all who played a game, it was very fun.
9. the all the pictures from past Christmases hung on the doors and playing on the tv for everyone to see. Very special memories, I'm so thankful to be a part of them.
10. being healthy and happy and with family. I wish Todd, Amy, Michael and Daniel could be here!!! You were were missed.

Saturday afternoon, 2pm, got home from Costco and thought I might be going into labor. Troy woke up from his nap at 3:30, sensed what was going on and was not too happy about it at all. Thinking it was pretty early, but not want wanting to take any chances, we left for the hospital a bit before 4 o'clock Yep, too early. Walked the halls for an hour which produced more of these... Which felt like this... And at 8:42pm they led to this... We are so thrilled to add a precious baby girl to our family We love you Mia Joy! (7lbs 2oz, 18.5" long)

I know that people come from good places and the intentions behind their comments are never bad, and sometimes they're actually funny, but sometimes I just want to say, um, really? Is that the BEST thing you can think of to say? Here are some of my faves from last week... "I'm going to un-friend you on facebook because you do not look like you just had a baby a week ago." - sorry? "What's her name? ... Oh I know SO MANY Mia's. Like, SO many." - great. "Are you guys finished yet? Is there some literature out there I can get for you (to teach you about prevention)?" (This one is my favorite) - "I'm the oldest of three and I am SO glad my parent's didn't have a fourth." - um... okay. This is the one I hear from almost everyone, it's not necessarily a bad thing to say, I just get it A LOT, "Two boys and two girls? Oh, the perfect family." Crafty Me

I'm pretty excited because I'm not crafty, at all, but when I saw this idea on my new favorite crafty blog I got all giddy because I thought, "I can do that!" and so I did. And since my kids ARE crafty, go figure, I had all the stuff to make them on hand - yippee! All I had to do was buy the goodies that make the wings, which only cost me a dollar (thank you Dollar Tree!). I put them in the kid's little Easter buckets. I hope they like them as much I do. :-)
